I am a Registered Acupuncturist at Collaborative Wellness Centre in Ladner. I graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree in 2004 and spent several years travelling and working abroad in South East Asia and Europe. After responding very well to acupuncture for autoimmune and digestive issues, I was really inspired to move beyond my position as a kinesiologist, and began my studies at the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Vancouver.
In my decade plus experience as an acupuncturist, I have witnessed countless times how unprocessed emotion can manifest as physical pain or discomfort. I love the freedom that becomes possible through connecting the mind and body with acupuncture, allowing us to dismantle old thinking patterns that may be contributing to physical issues. I am especially interested in helping patients have more compassion for themselves, which ultimately is key to becoming the parent (or person) they want to become.
Aside from my role as an acupuncturist, I am a mother of two. I have a love of great design: clothing, architecture, art. I have a weakness for a good quality dark chocolate, and a steadfast craving for travel.
I am truly blown away by the intricacy of the human body. There are an estimated 37.2 trillion cells in the human body, all working together to keep you functioning day-to-day. With so many processes in place, there is a lot of room for things to go wrong. What I love about acupuncture is that it is working with the body's own healing power, a gentle reminder when normal processes stray off-track. I believe that taking control of your own health is one of the most rewarding things you can do for yourself.
I want to acknowledge that my home, and where I practice, is on the west coast of British Columbia, on unceded Indigenous land belonging to the Coast Salish peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
